Cool Emo Girl Hairstyles
Emo girl hair is common among scene girls and even some punk girls. The abstract, asymmetrical styles require daily maintenance and abundant amounts of hair product. If you want to be a part of your local emo scene, a proper haircut is essential. Before you head out to the next My Chemical Romance show, make sure you hair is assuredly emo. Does this Spark an idea?

Colored Hair
-
The most common color for an emo hairstyle is black. If you don't have naturally black hair, you can ask your stylist to dye it jet black or you can dye your hair at home with kits from the local drugstore. If you're a little more creative and you want to express yourself, add streaks of vibrant color to your hair for a distinct emo look. Don't use streaks of blonde or red, be bold and put in a few streaks of blue or silver.
Short Emo Hair
-
If you have short hair, the best way to make it emo is by straightening it, followed by a quick tussle in the back. Make sure you have a little bit of hair product, or else your messy strands will fall flat again. As for your bangs, there are two routes you can go: very short, or very long. If you cut your bangs, make them about 2 inches long. For long bangs, grow them out as much as possible and sweep them to one side of your face.

Scene Mullet
-
This style was popularized by the indie rock group Tegan and Sara. As the classic mullet goes, this style requires you to cut your hair short at the top, and grow it long in the back. Make sure to straighten your hair if you're going for the scene mullet, otherwise your hair will look like early Jerry Seinfeld.
Choppy Style
-
Choppy emo hair can be long, short or medium length. The trick is to stagger the lengths of your hair. Some strands should stick out on the sides and in the back, use pomade to pull a few hairs into an unnatural direction. Ask your stylist to thin your hair out in a random fashion.
Long Emo Hair
-
If you have long hair, there are two strands that are more important than the rest of your hair. The strands on the sides of your head at your temples should grow long and straight, so that they rest below the front of your shoulders. Everything else can either be pinned up, cut shorter or layered.
