Definition
-
Crow's feet are lines around the outside of your eyes as you age. These lines are called crow's feet because they look similar to the imprints left behind by the feet of the named birds. Years of specific facial movements can create the lines. For example, if you've squinted a great deal over time, had sun damage or used your upper facial muscles often, you may have crow's feet or get crow's feet in the future.
Prevention
-
Although it may be difficult to fully prevent crow's feet, you can lower the chance of getting deep crow's feet by being conscious of your facial muscles. If you realize that you are squinting, be sure your eyes are in top shape. Get your prescription checked. Also, be sure to stay out of the sun or use sunscreen--even one built in to your moisturizer. And if you smoke, stop! Smoking can increase the look of fine lines on your face and create other skin imperfections.

Skin Care
-
Keeping skin moisturized can reduce the look of fine lines on your face, including crow's feet. Using a moisturizer with sunscreen is a must, but be sure to moisturize after a shower or bath as well.
Resurfacing Skin
-
Microdermabrasion is one technique that may help in treating crow's feet. This is a method that depletes layers of facial skin in order to bring about new layers of skin and less deep lines. Dermatologists and even some spas offer microdermabrasion. Chemical peels are another way to resurface skin and uses chemicals to take away layers of facial skin.
Injections
-
Botox and collagen injections are other ways to improve the lines in your face. Botox uses botulism to reduce the look of lines and reduce wrinkles temporarily. The toxin in the injection basically deadens the muscle in the face for a while in this process. Collagen, on the other hand, is a filler that can be injected to also temporarily reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. As we age, we lose collagen but can never make more. A collagen injection is a way to remedy the loss, but it's a temporary fix.
