Homeopathic Diets

Homeopathy is a term used to describe a method of healing, lifestyle or nutrition that avoids conventional medicine. Concerning diet, homeopathy attempts to limit the amount of processed food, additives and pesticides ingested. Exactly what type of diet you follow depends on the individual as well as the desired outcome.

  1. General

    • Most homeopathic diets include many fruits and vegetables like purple cabbage, mangos, berries and melons. These are high in fiber, and aid digestive health and bowel movement. Diets include plenty of water (an excess of two liters per day) to flush the system and promote urinary health. Organic and unprocessed foods make up the bulk of solid meals. Additionally, most homeopathic remedies are supplemented with one or more types of herbs, such as licorice or yucca root.

    Weight Loss

    • One of the primary uses of homeopathic diets is weight loss. If you choose to pursue this option, try to include one or more green vegetables like broccoli and asparagus in every meal. Avoid garnishing your foods with additives high in sodium, fat and sugar. Avoid processed foods like canned meats or microwaveable entrees. Try to eat small portions of organic food multiple times every day rather than fasting or binge eating. This increases your metabolism and helps your body burn calories faster.

    Diet Supplements

    • There are multiple homeopathic diet supplements that can be taken to curb appetite and increase vitamin intake. However, these should not replace the vitamins and minerals in your normal meals and should be taken only in conjunction with solid food. Furthermore, homeopathic dieting loses effectiveness when not combined with daily exercise, so working out for 30 to 60 minutes daily is advisable.

    Remedies

    • Homeopathic remedies can be used as a garnish to your diets and promote health. For example, herbs like licorice and spearmint have been known to ease stomach pain and decrease the buildup of gas. Taking omega oils has been known to help with autoimmune diseases like psoriasis. Prunes and milk thistle seed extract are used to promote digestive health and eliminate intestinal toxins known as mucoid plaque.

    Warning

    • It should be noted that homeopathy is an excellent practice but is not a substitution for conventional medicine or therapy. If you are experiencing a complication or illness, speak with a doctor before choosing one specific diet over another. It may be possible that you have a complication that homeopathy will not help or in some cases may aggravate.
