Side Effects of for Xenical

Xenical is a medication that is used to assist weight loss in heavily overweight individuals. The medicine is intended to be used alongside a low calorie, nutritionally balanced diet and a regular exercise routine. Xenical also assists in weight maintenance. Some people might occasionally experience some side effects from taking this medication.

  1. Common Side Effects

    • Users of Xenical frequently experience side effects such as not being able to properly control their bowels, gas, increased bowel movements, fatty or oily stools, and oily spotting or discharge. Generally, these side effects go away as the body gets used to Xenical. However, if they do not, or if they get more severe, you must consult your doctor.

    Serious Side Effects

    • Occasionally, users of Xenical might experience more serious side effects of the medication, namely persistent and extreme stomach pains. If you notice that your stomach is hurting very badly, you should get emergency medical care as soon as possible.

    Allergic Reactions

    • Allergic reactions are also side effects of Xenical. If you suspect that you are experiencing an allergic reaction, you need to get immediate medical assistance. Some signs of allergic reaction to Xenical are having a hard time breathing, the chest feeling very heavy or tight, the mouth, lips, tongue or face becoming swollen, itching, skin rash and breaking out into hives.

    Warnings

    • Xenical is not an ideal weight loss treatment for everybody. Certain people should avoid using this medication for their own safety, including those who have gallbladder issues and those who have chronic malabsorption syndrome (which is a condition in which a person does not have the ability to properly absorb nutrients and food).

    Caution

    • You must be very careful when considering whether taking Xenical is an appropriate route for your weight loss. You must inform your doctor of your medical history, including any allergies you might have to medications. You must be particularly cautious if you have the following conditions: diabetes (either Type 1 or Type 2), gallstones, underactive thyroid, bulimia, anorexia or pancreatitis.
