Surgical gloves, welding gloves, industrial gloves and electrical gloves are types of rubber gloves that are specific to their intended use. Another type of rubber glove is the general-purpose safety glove. Though made of a variety of rubber materials, the gloves are designed specifically for their intended applications. They may be made from butyl, nitrile, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl alcohol, neoprene, fluoroelastomer, natural rubber, and natural rubber blends.

    Surgical Gloves

  1. Surgical gloves or medical gloves are the types of gloves a medical professional will use when performing an invasive procedure. They may be used for drawing blood, inserting an IV, removing a tooth, performing a pelvic or anal exam, or performing a minor or major surgery. Surgical gloves may be made from rubber materials such as latex, polyisoprene, nitrile and neoprene. Surgical and medical rubber gloves are usually made to be disposed after use.

When wearing rubber gloves to work with live wires, an electrician can avoid being shocked. Electrical rubber gloves are made of various types of rubber.

General-purpose gloves may be used for cleaning toilets, washing dishes, or to protect the hands when preparing peppers or other foods that may irritate the hands. General-purpose rubber gloves conjure images of yellow, high-cuff gloves with bumpy, slip-resistant palms and fingertips. These types of rubber gloves are often made of natural rubber or natural rubber blends with cotton lining.
