Poker Stars Problems

Poker Stars is one of the most heavily populated online poker sites in which users can play in real money games. The site offers cash games, tournaments, sit-n-gos and a variety of other formats in the most popular poker disciplines such as Texas Hold'em and Omaha. If you have trouble with Poker Stars try some troubleshooting steps.

  1. Software Does Not Run

    • Download the software again. Chose "Save" instead of "Run" and download the program to the desktop for easy location. Select "Run" after the program is downloaded. If you continue to have problems you can email support@pokerstars.com.

    Software Does Not Download

    • This is likely caused by a connection issue between your computer and the PokerStars servers. If you have more than one browser try using a different one (such as Firefox instead of Internet Explorer). If your computer runs security software such as GData or Kaspersky this could cause issues with the PokerStars download. Temporarily disable this software. The download is web only so you cannot obtain a disk from PokerStars with the poker program.

    Cannot Connect to Poker Stars Server

    • Try restarting your computer and also turn off and on any network equipment such as modems or routers. Secondly, make sure the operating system task bar has the proper year and date set. Thirdly, if you have a firewall on your computer ensure that is is correctly configured to allow access to Poker Stars.

    Security Certificate Incorrect

    • You may receive this error message if the date is incorrect on your computer, or if the software's security certificate is expired or corrupt. As in Section 3, make sure the task bar has the correct date and time, then reinstall the Poker Stars software.

    Connection Times Out During Games

    • Because the information between the Poker Stars servers and your computer pass through a number of peer routers lag or temporary disconnects can sometimes occur. Because online gaming is more demanding on an Internet connection than such activities as checking e-mail or browsing the web this happens more frequently during online poker games. Steps you can take to alleviate this situation are to run fewer programs on your computer or beef up your system's memory, make sure there is no spyware on your computer and change your wireless network if there are multiple computers on the existing network. You can also use the network status report in the Poker Stars software in an effort to isolate the problem.
