What Is QuickTime Pro?
QuickTime is a free video player for Macintosh--also available for use on a PC--that plays digital video and audio files, But if you want to be able to edit and create video, then you must pay to upgrade to QuickTime Pro. QuickTime Pro allows more control over video and audio files; letting you do such things as record podcasts and videos, edit files or convert a video from one format to another.

QuickTime has been available since the days of Mac's System 7 operating system. 1998 saw the QuickTime file format accepted as the basis for the MPEG-4 file format. MPEG-4 formats became an industry standard and first appeared with support in 2006, in QuickTime 6.
QuickTime continues to be available on Mac OS X but now has been added as a free download option for PC users. By bridging the gap between computers, Apple has been able to move their video standard (QuickTime video file format) to the majority of computer users.

Purchasing the QuickTime Pro licensing key and entering it in the 'Registration" window of the QuickTime player unlocks and replaces the QuickTime player with QuickTime Pro. No additional downloading is necessary.

QuickTime Pro can play videos that take up the entire screen. Additionally it can be used to record video from a camera or a podcast from a microphone. Video files can also be edited using the standard cut, copy and paste techniques, and videos can be downloaded from the Internet as well. Additionally, QuickTime Pro users can convert from one video file format to another (i.e., from one that plays on the Mac to one that plays on an iPhone or iPod). Audio formats can be converted as well.

The program not only records the video or audio, but lets you edit it to suit your preferences and share it with friends through email. And by being able to save a copy of the video or audio file in any number of different formats, it enables compatibility with just about everything that is used on a computer or online.
QuickTime Pro also make it easy to organize one's video and audio library into similar file formats for ease of use and storage.
Mac vs PC

QuickTime Pro works similarly on a PC as it does on a Macintosh computer, but "feels" a bit different due to the differences in the operating systems of a Mac to a PC. In no way does this detract from using QuickTime Pro's features.
