Sprint Vs. Verizon Blackberry

Two of the largest cellular carrier in the United States, Verizon Wireless and Sprint, offer Research in Motion's Blackberry smart phones. While both carriers offer many of the same models, including the 8830 World Edition, Curve 8330, and Pearl 8130, there are models which are exclusive to either carrier. When choosing a wireless network, it is best to first choose the more reliable carrier, and then consider models which are offered by the carrier.

    3G Network

  1. Based on a comparison conducted by PC World, in which three major carriers' 3G networks were tested in 13 cities, Verizon appears to have a definite edge over Sprint in terms of speed in most cities. Based on the same numbers, Sprint was more reliable overall than Verizon. As the results for each city in the survey were different, it is advisable to further research the network coverage in a particular area before committing to a carrier.
  2. Verizon: Blackberry Storm

  3. Designed to compete with AT&T's iPhone, the Blackberry Storm is exclusive to Verizon Wireless. Offering users a touch screen interface and a larger, 3.25 inch high resolution display. The Blackberry Storm has many of the same multimedia features of other Blackberry smart phones, but the larger, clearer screen makes viewing photos and video much easier and more enjoyable.
  4. Sprint: Blackberry Curve 8350i

  5. Although Verizon and Sprint both offer the Blackberry Curve 8330 albeit with different color options, the Blackberry Curve 8350i is unique to Sprint. The major difference between the two models is the inclusion of Wi-Fi support to the 8350i, as well as push to talk capabilities.
  6. Verizon: Blackberry Pearl Flip 8230

  7. The Blackberry Pearl 8130, which is offered by both carriers, is intended as an entry level Blackberry for users who are not willing to compromise smaller size for increased functionality. The Blackberry Pearl Flip 8230 is meant to entice users who prefer the form factor of flip phones to the Blackberry market. This is simply a matter of form and not function.
  8. Verizon and Sprint: Color Choices

  9. As both companies offer many of the same model Blackberry devices, have comparable service in most cities and similar calling plan prices, the choice of one network over another might be determined exclusively by style. Verizon offers Blackberry smart phones primarily in silver, black and pink, whereas Sprint offers red, orange and black for most models.
