Most people do not realize that jaguar cubs are actually born blind. They stay in a blind state for up to two weeks and totally depend upon the mother jaguar to provide the food that they need to survive. Many people have a difficult time distinguishing the difference between a leopard and a jaguar. The reason for this is they have similar fur color but upon closer inspection their spots are much different. Once a jaguar cub's eyes fully develop they will actually have very good eyesight and are able to take in more light than other creatures in order to hunt in the dark.

Jaguar cubs are known for feasting on a daily diet of fish, turtles, lizards, alligators and even wild boars. Jaguar cubs learn how to efficiently hunt on the ground but they have been known to also hunt from cliffs, hills and even trees. Overall, jaguars are known for being very methodical hunters and possess a lot of patience when hunting.

More often than not jaguar cubs are born in the middle of the rainy season and they will keep with the pack until they are more than two years old and can live independently. The only time a male and female jaguar ever interact is for the purpose of mating. A female jaguar can give birth to up to four jaguar cubs within a 100 day time frame. Jaguars are known for being very territorial and can have a territory from just a few miles to several hundred square miles.

The biggest threat to jaguar cubs are actually anacondas. Since jaguars are mostly seen in the Amazon jungle, they are exposed to anacondas quite a bit whenever they are near streams or rivers. The anaconda lays in hiding waiting for the Jaguar to be completely submerged in the water and then the anaconda attacks. The main method that the Anacondas uses is suffocation.

Jaguar cubs are known for having a high mortality rate due to infection issues from the food that they eat. If the prey that the parents bring is old, then there is a good chance that the meat contains maggots which then can infect the jaguar cub with all kinds of diseases. Another interesting fact about jaguars is that their roar is not typical of a large cat. Their roar actually sounds more like a cough.
