Baptism Card Ideas

Baptism is a monumental experience in the life a Christian. It represents concentration, dedication and an outward act of obedience to follow Christ. It is a time of celebration and rejoicing with family and friends who share in the Christian faith. It is a deeply significant event that has incredible effects on the rest of an individual's life. Baptism cards are intended to inspire, commemorate and celebrate the life of Christ and the person's decision to follow Him. The cards should be sent to anyone who attended the baptism.

  1. Scripture

    • A popular approach to designing personal baptism cards is to use a scripture that holds significance to the individual being baptized (if the person is an adult). The scripture chosen may be explained, telling how that scripture has impacted the person and why he or she has chosen to be baptized. Centering the baptism card on a life-themed scripture is a great way to share the deeper personal meaning behind this act.

    Photos

    • A great way to personalize a baptism card is with personal photos of the individual from childhood to the present day. These photos may serve as a story of the person's life and the events that have led him or her to this day. If the baptism is for a baby, then the newborn picture may be used to commemorate this important day. An explanation of the photos can be on the inside of the card expressing the gratitude of God's grace upon his or her journey through life.

    Christian Art

    • If there is a particular piece of Christian art that the individual has drawn inspiration from, then this can be used as the main focus of the baptism card. The art piece doesn't have to be painted or drawn by a Christian as long as the participant has drawn Christian inspiration from it. For example, if Dali's painting of "The Christ" has inspired one to remember the cross, then this would be appropriate.

    A Prayer

    • A personal, handwritten prayer is a great way for an individual to express his or her gratitude and consecration to God in a public manner. The written word is powerful and has the ability to speak to the masses as they attend the baptism ceremony. If the participant is uncomfortable writing a personal prayer, he or she can choose a prayer that has spoken to him or her throughout life. Different denominations have various books of prayers that can be easily accessed.

    A Poem

    • Poetry is able to descriptively and colorfully express words in such a way that they carry greater weight and meaning than the use of prose. The poem used may be popular, a personal inspiration or written by a close family member. Using a poem is a great way to display someone's gifted ability while also celebrating the event of baptism.
