Symptoms of an H. Pylori Infection
An H. pylori infection is a bacterial infection that will usually affect the lining of your stomach or your small intestine. According to the Mayo Clinic, it is estimated that the H. pylori infection is present in approximately 50% of the world's population. Most people never experience problems or symptoms, while others can develop a serious digestive infection. Your doctor may use blood and stool samples to test for an H. pylori infection, and medication is used to treat it.

Abdominal Discomfort
-
Some of the symptoms of H. pylori infection are in the form of abdominal distress. You may begin to feel an aching pain, or a burning pain, in your abdomen. You might begin to experience stomach bloating, or possibly a general feeling of abdominal bloating. There might be uncontrollable and frequent belching, and you may begin to experience nausea that could eventually lead to vomiting.
Weight Symptoms
-
Over time, you may begin to experience H. pylori infection symptoms that have to do with weight and appetite. You could begin to lose your appetite, and this could be one of the reasons why you may experience weight loss. You may also begin to experience unexplained weight loss that is not the result of a loss of appetite. It is also possible that you will experience an increase in appetite which would directly result in an increase in weight.

Stomach Pain
-
In some cases, the symptoms of an H. pylori infection infection can be felt specifically in the stomach. You may feel an gnawing-type pain in your stomach which may occur after a meal, or it may occur in the middle of the night and be severe enough to wake you. This gnawing or burning pain may come and go for a few days, or you may experience it intermittently for several weeks at a time. You may only get relief from these painful experiences when your stomach is full.
Mental Symptoms
-
Even though an H. pylori infection is commonly a digestive condition, it can still create psychological symptoms. Some of the more common psychological symptoms associated with H. pylori infection are depression, a lack of focus and an inability to concentrate on anything. If you have an H. pylori infection, you may feel like you are always in a fog and unable to figure anything out.
Other Symptoms
-
Some other less common symptoms of an H. pylori infection include fatigue, pain in the joints or muscles, and random pain that may develop at random points in the body without warning or explanation.
