The Corolla comes in five models: standard, LE, XLE, S and XRS. The standard model comes in five-speed manual or four-speed automatic and has less features than other models. The sporty XRS offers 17-inch alloy wheels and a multi-information display that reads outside temperature and fuel levels.
Performance
-
The Corolla comes in either a 1.8-liter or 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. A five-speed manual transmission is standard with the 1.8-liter engines, but a four-speed automatic transmission is also available. The 2.4-liter engine is exclusive to the Corolla XRS. The 2.4-liter engine was designed to reduce friction and ensure a more smooth and quiet ride. The Corolla also boasts fuel efficiency, averaging 26/35 miles per gallon.

Safety
-
Toyota's anti-lock braking system comes standard on all Corolla models, and Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control are available as options. All models are equipped with standard advanced frontal airbags and front seat-mounted airbags along with rear curtain seat airbags. According to vehicle information provided by Toyota.com, if the Corolla is struck from the rear with enough force, a cable-actuated mechanism in the headrest moves the headrest upward and forward to help limit the movement of the occupant's head. According to Consumer Reports, the Corolla's safety rating has also increased in recent years after Toyota addressed the issue of collisions between compact and full-size cars by redesigning all models to disperse impact through the entire body structure.
Storage
-
The Corolla can comfortably seat up to five passengers and a variety of easy-to-reach storage spaces add a level of convenience inside the vehicle. These include a storage box above the usual glove box; center console side pockets; front and rear door pockets that can safely hold 20-ounce bottles; and an overhead console for sunglasses or garage-door openers. A larger-than-expected trunk can easily store up to two suitcases and then some.

The Corolla comes with a variety of options, including satellite radio (subscription required), an AM/FM/six-disc CD changer with MP3 playback capability with up to eight speakers, 17-inch alloy wheels, a slide moonroof, leather-trimmed seats and a navigation system.
