Inspra is a brand name for eplerenone, an antihypertensive drug. This drug is available by prescription and is commonly used to treat high blood pressure. Some doctors use this medication to treat congestive heart failure after a patient has had a heart attack. Inspra is available in tablet form and may be prescribed alone or in combination with other drugs. This drug may cause some side effects.

    Nervous System Effects

  1. Some Inspra users may notice side effects related to the nervous system. According to the Mayo Clinic, some individuals have reported confusion while on Inspra. Dizziness may also occur. Some people have reported headaches as well as nervousness, unusual tiredness and weakness.
  2. Gastrointestinal and Urinary Effects

  3. Some side effects have occurred with Inspra that are related to the gastrointestinal or urinary systems. According to the Mayo Clinic, people have noticed pain in the stomach or abdomen. Vomiting is also possible while on this drug. Individuals may become unusually nauseous. Diarrhea can develop in some people taking the medication. Some people have also experienced a loss of appetite. Women may notice abnormal vaginal bleeding. Urine may develop a cloudy appearance.
  4. Skin and Related Effects

  5. Some skin-related side effects have occurred for some people being treated with Inspra. The Mayo Clinic reports some individuals have developed a tingling or numbness on the lips, hands or feet. Large areas of swelling or hives have occurred on the face, lips and tongue. Swelling of the extremities or genitals is also possible. The breasts may become swollen or sore in females and males.
  6. Body Pain Effects

  7. Various pains have been reported by Inspra users. The Mayo Clinic reports that people may notice back pain or arm pain, or pain in the jaw or neck. Some patients have noticed chest pain while on this drug. Joint pain and muscle pain have also been reported by some users.
  8. Other Effects

  9. Other side effects may be high blood levels of cholesterol or triglycerides, a fast or irregular heartbeat, sweating or leg weakness, difficulty breathing, coughing or fever. Some individuals have complained about a general feeling of illness or discomfort.
