Military Birthday Party Ideas
The military is one of the most important and respected institutions in our nation. They help protect our freedom and keep us safe from those who would take it from us. Having a military birthday party is a way to respect and pay tribute to the hard-working soldiers in our various military branches. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations
-
Military invitations aren't as hard to create as you'd imagine. One military invitation is the draft notice. Write "You've been drafted" on the front of the invitation. Now, write up the party invitation but do it in a military style. For example, say "John Doe is requested for military service at Jim Doe's birthday party this Saturday. Your service will begin at noon. You will be required to wear the uniform of the military. You will also be required to eat cake, play games, and have fun. Your service will last until four p.m. the same day. Your country thanks you for your service." Pictures of military personnel or military vehicles should be used on the invitation. You may also use pictures of family members or friends who have served in the military.
Decorations
-
The decorations for a military party should be simple. Buy lots of red, white and blue decorations to put up around the house and yard to represent the colors of America. Also use a lot of dark green to represent the Army. You may be able to find plates and silverware that are military themed at a party supply store. Once you have red, white and blue streamers through the house, you should put a red white and blue tablecloth on your table. Hang American flags throughout the house and around the yard. Hang pictures of tanks, soldiers and other military objects throughout the house. Have a "swear in" sheet in the front to serve as an attendance sheet.

Food
-
The food in the military is simple and effective. However, since you are at a party, you shouldn't try to mimic the simple food of the military too effectively. You should grill some hot dogs and hamburgers. These two types of food are common in the military. You can also give your attendees coffee, soda, Kool-Aid, water or pop. French fries, fried potatoes or potato salad make an excellent potato dish. The cake and ice cream are where you can go wild. Make a patriotic cake by decorating it red, white and blue. Now, put small military toys on top of the cake. On top of the cake, write the name of the birthday person and a small message of thanks to the military. The ice cream should be multicolored as well.
Costumes
-
Military costumes can range from full-body store-bought costumes to made-at-home ideas. Store-bought costumes will be more expensive than handmade costumes, but will be easier to prepare and more efficient. These come with uniforms, hats and guns. A simple handmade military costume can consist of a pair of camouflage pants, a camouflage hat, a simple white T-shirt, and a plastic toy gun. You can also camouflage the face if you like. This material can either be bring-it-yourself, or you can buy some cheap makeup and shirts. Costumes will make everyone feel more involved in the atmosphere of the party.
Games
-
There should be many games at a military birthday party. For example, you could have a game of "basic training." This would consist of an obstacle course, including tires, sprinting, crawling and climbing. Whoever wins should get a party favor or prize for their efforts. You can also have a "grenade" tossing competition. Set up a series of plastic grenades, baseballs or other objects about 5 feet from a bucket. Now your guests take turns attempting to throw as many of the objects into the bucket as possible. The top five will move to the next round, where the bucket is moved back 10 feet. The top two will then throw from 20 feet. The winner gets a prize.
