Christmas Party Finger Foods for Kids
You want to make sure that the kids are eating more than candy and cookies at the yearly Christmas party, so serve up finger foods that please kids as well as adults. A variety of tasty finger foods can help keep little hands out of the candy dish during busy holiday festivities. Does this Spark an idea?

Sweet Rolls
-
Use crescent rolls to create real-life visions of sugar plums. To make Christmas Magic Sweet Rolls, layer a cinnamon and sugar mixture inside an unrolled crescent roll. Place a marshmallow in the middle of the roll and fold up all three corners of the roll, securing with a toothpick that is stuck through the dough and into the marshmallow. (You might want to soak your toothpicks in water first, to be sure they won't burn.) Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. The marshmallow will melt and disappear, leaving a sweet glace inside the now-hollow roll.
Sandwiches
-
Use Christmas cookie cutters to turn simple peanut butter and jelly sandwiches into festive treats. For meatier fare, serve Reindeer Pocket Sandwiches. Place rectangles of crescent roll dough in a shallow pan about 1 inch apart. Layer with green peppers, browned ground beef and grated cheese. Top each rectangle with another rectangle of dough and bake in a 375-degree oven for around 12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.

Pastry
-
Kids love pudding. Use prepared pie dough to make miniature Christmas pies that are just the right size for little fingers. Cut a pie crust into circles with a round cookie cutter. Place a tablespoon of pudding or pie filling in the center, and fold the dough over to form a half circle. Seal the edges of the dough by pressing together with a fork. Bake in a 350-degree oven until the crust is golden brown.
Tarts
-
For a tasty taco tart, fill phyllo dough shells with a mixture of cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, diced green pepper and taco seasoning mix. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Or use these same pasty shells to create tiny pies by filling with fruit pie filling and baking.
Protein
-
Introduce healthy protein by cutting boneless chicken tenders into 2-inch squares and coating with egg yoke and Italian bread crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for around 10 to 15 minutes or until the meat is cooked. While the chicken is baking, use tiny cookie cutters to cut slices of American cheese into festive shapes. When the chicken has cooled slightly, top with the cheese shapes.
Meatballs can be a popular holiday finger food as well. Prepare according to your own recipe, or purchase ready-made meatballs and bake in a moderate oven until the meat is cooked. Insert festive toothpicks and serve.
Party Mixes
-
To make Merry Christmas Crunch, combine a colorful cereal such as Trix, Fruit Loops or Cap'n Crunch with Crunch Berries. Holiday colors are the main consideration here. Mix in pretzel sticks, milk chocolate and white chocolate chips, Christmas M&Ms and salted peanuts for a festive party mix. Or pull out the slow cooker to prepare a party mix that calls for Cheerios and Wheat Chex cereals, pretzel sticks and salted peanuts. Add Parmesan cheese, butter and seasoned salt, and cook on low for three hours, stirring occasionally.
