Page Creator Alternatives
Google Page Creator was an online website editor used to design, edit and publish web pages directly from a Google account. Page Creator has been replaced with Google Sites, which includes several features that Page Creator offered. Like Page Creator, Google Sites is also free and with the software websites can be created, edited and published online, directly to your Google account. According to Google, Page Creator was shut down in June 2009.

Google Sites is comparable to Page Creator and includes more advanced features than the software it replaced. According to Google, Google Sites includes site-level navigation and headers, embedded calendars, videos, and "Google docs," and control over who can see and edit your site. You can customize your website in Google Sites and insert interactive features and other objects, and there is no limit to the number of pages you can create. Like Page Creator, with Google Site you can publish directly to the Web and use Google's Web hosting service.

Official Site Builder is free, easy to use and similar to a word processor. You'll need to register an account with the site to use it. You can upload files directly to your website from Official Site Builder.

Dreamweaver includes Page Designs (in CSS) and starter pages that you can use as templates. You can easily insert forms, images, links and other objects you want to use within the program. Dreamweaver comes with site-management tools that help you manage files and folders and upload them directly to the web. Dreamweaver, which must be purchased from Adobe Software, does not include hosting, so you'll need to register for domain and Web-hosting separately.

You may use its free service or sign up for professional services to access advanced features. With a WebStarts account, you receive up to 10 MB of storage space for a free website. You can create a web page using pre-designed templates, but WebStarts templates are more difficult to change than those in Page Creator. WebStarts includes drag-and-drop tools, an image and widget gallery, blog tool, menu builder and SEO wizard. One feature is that you can upload a Google site map directly onto your Web page.
KompoZer

KompoZer is an open-source Web-page authoring application. You can quickly create and edit your website without knowing how to write in HTML (hypertext markup language). KompoZer is similar to a word processor, and allows you to import existing designs into your page. You can add images, tables, style sheets and links to your page, and set page properties, such as meta tags, page titles and page formats. KompoZer includes a file-transfer function that allows you to upload your files to the Web, but you'll need to get a domain and web hosting account separately.
