What Is Ink Toner?
With the advent of electrophotographic technology more than 30 years ago, photocopying and laser printing have made major advances. Manufacturers are inventing new ways to improve the quality of toner and, in turn, companies realize ink toner is more cost efficient and reliable than inkjet ink and are make improvements toward making them safer for the environment, cheaper to purchase, and clearer copying capabilities.

Composition of Ink Toner
-
Various manufactures use different polymers but can be acrylate, polyester resin, a butadiene or other copolymers. The formulas vary in every manufacturer and sometimes from machine to machine. Sizes of toner particles vary from eight to ten um for 600 dots
Toner has traditionally been made by compounding the ingredients and creating a slab which was broken or pelletized, then turned into a fine powder with a controlled particle size range by air jet milling. The toner particles come in an array of shapes and sizes when processed. Some companies have begun using a chemical process to grow toner particles from molecular reagents. This results in more uniform size and shapes of toner particles. The smaller, uniform shapes permit more accurate color reproduction and more efficient toner use.
Description Of Ink Toner
-
Ink toner is a powder form in plastic cartridges used for creating text and images on paper. Toner is used in laser printers and photocopiers. The particles are heated and they bind to the paper to create a copy onto paper. Toner is available in black, and the color laser printers carry yellow, cyan, and magenta. The cartridge is slid into the drum and then placed inside the printer and is ready for use.

Toner Ink Vs. InkJet Ink
-
The huge upside to toner is the amount of copies you can make with just one cartridge. With five percent coverage you can make up to 3000 copies, even with more coverage the average cartridge can produce 2000 to 2500 copies. Consider that the inkjet cartridge can make between 40 and 100 copies.
Cost and Maintenance
-
You can purchase a new toner ink cartridge on average of $45, the inkjet cartridge cost about $12 but print less copies than their competitor. Maintenance with the toner cartridge is easier also. If there are issues with lines in the middle of the paper you can detach the cartridge and move the arm back and forth and it clears the problem. Inkjet cartridges need a little more care and nearly impossible to fix on your own if a problem arises.
Right Printer for the job
-
The inkjet printers are sufficient for light copying and printing for home use and light industrial.
Laser printers are used in heavy office and home use where printings and copies are abundant.
