Rainbow Vacuum FAQ
Rainbow vacuums were among the first cleaning machines 80 years ago. Rexair LLC still manufactures the Rainbow Cleaning System. Does this Spark an idea?
-
What's the Product's History?
-
Leslie Green teamed with inventor John Newcombe in 1929 to form Rexair, which later transitioned into Rexair LLC. Newcombe developed the bagless technology to separate dust from air and originally manufactured the cleaners as the "Newcombe Bagless." After teaming up with Green, Rexair, meaning "King of Air," was founded.
The cleaner was redesigned in 1955 and named the Rainbow.
Where Is the Product Made?
-
Rexair LLC world headquarters are in Troy, Mich. The company's only manufacturing facility is in the small northern Michigan town of Cadillac.
-
How Is the Product Sold?
-
The Rainbow Cleaning System is sold through authorized dealers around the world. Customers can have a free in-home product demonstration and purchase the product through the dealer. The cleaners are not sold in stores. The company's website has information on locating a dealer.

The Rainbow Cleaning System uses water to catch dirt and dust inside the machine. The water traps the dirt and deposits it into the "water reservoir." The company's current model has a HEPA air filtration system to collect even finer particles or allergens.
What Are Some of the Features?
-
The machine is powered by a "hurricane" motor, offering two different cleaning speeds. The Rainbow Cleaning System also has an on-board computer and allows users to adjust the cleaning height.

Included with the Rainbow Cleaning System are an upholstery tool, dusting brush, floor and wall brush, crevice device and attachment caddy.
The company also manufactures carpet cleaning supplies, scented cleaning supplies and additional attachments, such as a squeegee for cleaning tile floors.
