Fire blankets are simple tools used to quickly put out small fires. They are made of fiberglass or wool and are often treated with fire-retardant chemicals to improve their effectiveness. Drawbacks

Cheaper wool blankets that have not been tested by the National Fire Protection Agency may not be effective on many types of fires, especially those caused by chemicals or gasoline.
