Ideas for Pinatas

The use of piñatas for themed parties has become extremely popular because they can be made in almost any shape and size. A piñata can be a simple ball or an ornate cartoon character. Even adults are using piñatas for parties. Because of this, there are so many more ideas for making and using piñatas. Piñatas can be featured at holiday parties, showers and back to school parties.

  1. Christmas Parties

    • Make Christmas ornaments with mini piñatas. Fill them each with a trinket, piece of candy or confetti. Allow each person to find one and open it before or a after the gifts have been opened. Make a snowman pinata for the older crowd. Instead of using the usual fillers (candy, toys or fruit), put in gift cards, restaurant coupons and music or gas cards.

    Easter Parties

    • Use a bunny piñata, and fill it with plastic eggs filled with Easter candy. Tape the eggs shut so the candy won't fall on the floor when the piñata is broken open. That way you can use jellybeans, peeps and candy that aren't individually wrapped. Make small piñata eggs and fill them with treats. Hide them for an Easter egg hunt.

    Halloween Parties

    • Use a witch piñata for Halloween parties. Fill it with wax lips, plastic spiders, candy and confetti. Just before it's totally filled add a motion-activated voice chip in it. Every time the piñata is hit, it will cackle. Pumpkin-shaped piñatas can be used as centerpieces. Small pumpkin-shaped piñatas can be filled and placed in the partier's trick or treat bag.

    Baby Showers

    • A ducky or baby-buggy shaped piñata can be used for a baby shower. Fill it with safety pins, small baby lotions, diapers, washcloths or anything that a baby can use. Let the new mom break open the piñata. Use a cake-shaped piñata for a wedding shower. Add dishtowels, cooking utensils, bath items or things that a new bride can use to fill it.

    Educational Parties

    • A piñata shaped as a ruler or eraser can be used for a back to school party. Fill it with pencils, pens, erasers and small notebooks. Use an apple-shaped piñata for an older kid's party. Put in educational CDs, gift cards for a bookstore, and small items that can be used to decorate a locker or dorm room.
