Microsoft certification programs are divided into four categories: Specialist Series, Professional Series, Master Series and Architect Series. The Specialist Series allows you to deeply learn a Microsoft product or technology. At the end of this training, you can become a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) by passing exams given my Microsoft and having a year of experience working in your field. You'll only learn a single product or technology at a beginner's level with the MCTS program.
The Professional Series is for people who want a more comprehensive set of skills. You can become a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) or Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD). The Master Series is for those who want to become experts in specific technologies, but who already have a working knowledge of Microsoft technologies beyond a beginner level. This training allows you to become a Microsoft Certified Master and is a good choice for those who are already certified as an MCTS. The last series, the Architect Series, is for those who are already experienced in IT architecture, but who want to learn even more. You can become a Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA) in technology, infrastructure or solutions. - Becoming an MCP gives you access to exclusive resources. MCPs can network with the MCP community around the world through Microsoft's website. The tools that will be available to you include a logo builder and transcript sharing tool, as well as an e-store full of MCP-branded items.
