Under-eye wrinkles are usually caused by sun damage. As a result, the skin ages prematurely because UV (ultraviolet) rays from the sun break down collagen. Collagen is what makes skin tight and smooth. When collagen is damaged, the skin loses its elasticity and causes fine lines, wrinkles and crow's feet around the eye area. The following treatments can help reduce and eliminate under-eye wrinkles.

    Botox Treatments

  1. Botox is a bacteria known as Botulinum Toxin that can be injected around the eye area. Botox blocks a chemical that is released by nerve cells and inhibits muscle movement. Because muscles don't move around the eye area, people are less likely to develop fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. Botox can be administered only by a trained medical profession or cosmetic surgeon. Patients should be aware of eye-related side effects such as eye spasms.
  2. Anti-Aging Eye Cream Products

  3. There are many anti-aging products on the market that can smooth and diminish under-eye wrinkles. Eye creams with alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), CoQ10 (coenzyme Q10) and Vitamin A repair sun-damaged skin, especially around the delicate eye area where fine lines and wrinkles appear. AHA, CoQ10 and Vitamin A are known to repair collagen damage and generate new skin-cell growth. Eye creams tighten the skin and make the under-eye area appear smooth and wrinkle-free. Most of these eye creams can be bought over the counter at local drugstores or department stores, or through other cosmetic retailers and wholesalers.
  4. Cosmetic Surgery

  5. For severely wrinkled under-eye areas, some patients opt for cosmetic surgery procedures such as eye lifts. Eye lifts pull and tighten the skin around the eye. eliminating wrinkles and fine lines. Cosmetic surgery is a dramatic step and carries risk. Because of the muscles around the eye, nerve damage could occur. Eye lifts should only be performed by reputable, licensed cosmetic surgeons who specialize in eye/face lifts.
  6. Natural Treatments

  7. Natural treatments don't use chemicals or artificial ingredients. Mashed banana and avocado dabbed under the eyes can naturally tighten and hydrate the skin. Avoid getting the ingredients in your eye and close your eyes while you pat the mask around the eye area. Leave on for a few minutes and rinse with cool water. Wet green teabags placed on and underneath the eyes reduces puffiness (inflammation). Green tea contains natural polyphenol which is known to help diminish fine lines and wrinkles. It's also important to drink water on a regular basis, which hydrates and softens the skin.
  8. Warning

  9. Because the eye area is delicate, use these treatments cautiously. Discuss treatment options with a medical doctor, dermatologist or licensed cosmetic surgeon. Not all treatments are suitable for everyone and risks are involved with cosmetic procedures such as eye lifts and Botox. One of the best defenses against under-eye wrinkles is to wear UV protection sunglasses year-round and to avoid extended exposure to the sun.
