About Eve Perfume

All About Eve was a best-selling designer fragrance for Generation X and remains a favorite among some women. This apple-based scent is refreshing, sweet without being floral and offers a satisfying subtlety of fruit and spice for those who want a perfume that's not too exotic. British fragrance vendor Perfume4u.co.uk say All About Eve smells "good enough to eat." Does this Spark an idea?

  1. History

    • All About Eve is a designer fragrance for women that was created by Berlin, Germany-based fashion and fragrance design house Joop! The scent was introduced in 1996. Joop! describes the fragrance as "an homage to the origin of femininity." Their stated goal was to make All About Eve for women who combine power with femininity---who are are subtly sensual, playful, independent, confident and "accessible."

    Packaging

    • All About Eve perfume is green in color and is sold in an apple-shaped bottle, a symbolic reference to the apple given by Eve to Adam in the biblical Garden of Eden story.

    Composition

    • All About Eve contains fruity, floral and spicy notes of apple, peach, bergamot, jasmine, cinnamon, cardamom, tonka and vanilla. It fades to base notes of more apple, sandalwood and patchouli. This combination puts All About Eve in the category of a fruited oriental. This scent also has been described as refreshing and woody.

    Uses

    • Joop! has designated All About Eve as a fragrance appropriate for office wear. Fragrancenet.com, an online perfume house, describes All About Eve as a scent of moderate strength, lasting an average of 6 to 10 hours and recommended for mature women in a casual, daytime setting.

    Availability

    • All About Eve is sold as a perfumed body lotion, body cream, shower gel and deodorant as well as an Eau de Parfum. A 1.3-oz. unopened bottle in original packaging can be found on eBay for less than $30. The 4.2-oz. bottle runs about $90. The 6.7-oz. package of body cream is about $40. This 14-year-old fragrance is no longer carried by some perfume vendors, but it's easy to find online sources shipping from within the United States.

    Trivia

    • All About Eve perfume bears no connection to a 1950 movie of the same name that starred Bette Davis. And anthropologists believe that, because apples are not native to Mesopotamia, where human life is thought to have originated, the real-life Eve probably would have offered Adam a pomegranate.
