Types
-
MAC offers blush in three different types: mineral, crème and powder blush. Each product has a different shelf life. Generally, liquid products (even foundations) expire earlier because of their chemical makeup more so than a powder-based makeup product, such as blush.
Time Frame
-
Powder blushes generally expire in 2 years' time, while a crème blush will expire more quickly, in 6 months to a year. It is important to note that, no matter the brand, whether MAC Cosmetics or any other brand, high end or drugstore, the expiration dates for blush products are similar. Because this product goes near your eyes and on your face, it is important to dispose of it promptly when it has expired to avoid a breakout or infection.
Identification
-
Your blush product should remain the same pigment or color that it originally was. Also, if the blush has changed consistency in any way--such that it has become chalky, for example--it is time to dispose of the blush. Any change in a product should alert the wearer of its age.
