Lake Powell Camping Rules

Lake Powell, located in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in Arizona and Utah, has six different campsites available to the public--three operated by the National Park Service and three operated by the lake's official concessionaire, Aramark. The rules and regulations change for each campsite. The entrance fee for the recreation area is $7 per person and $15 per vehicle.

  1. Lees Ferry

    • A campground managed by the National Parks Service, Lees Ferry has 54 designated sites with no hookups. The site provides grills and does not allow open frames. Plus, the campsite has quiet time from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night. The site does have a modern bathroom, comfort station, potable water and a boat launch ramp two miles from the site. There is also a gas and supply station five miles from the site. No reservations are taken and fees are $10 per night.

    Lone Rock Beach primitive camping

    • This NPS site doesn't require a reservation and fees are $8 per night. There are no designated campsites and camping is allowed on sandy beaches or in dunes. Open fires are permitted within a four square foot area and quiet time is from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Modern amenities include four microflush toilets, six vault toilets, a comfort station with wheelchair accessibility, an outdoor cold shower, an offroad vehicle area, dump station, potable water (seasonal) and day use area.

    Stanton Creek primitive camping

    • Also operated by the NPS, camping is allowed on Stanton Creek's sandy beaches. There are no designated campgrounds or reservations, and fees are $6 per night.

    Wahweap RV Park and Campground

    • Open year-around, this campground is operated by Aramark and features 139 full hookup spaces, 112 tent or self-contained RV spaces and a group tent area. Full hookup spaces are $43 per night, can accommodate vehicles up to 70 feet and feature picnic tables, grills, fire pits, restrooms, showers, coin-operated laundry, a resort pool and jacuzzi and wireless internet access, according to lakepowell.com. Tent and self-contained areas are $23 per night and can handle vehicles up to 30 feet. They feature grills, picnic tables and restrooms. Ground fires are not permitted. The group tent area has tables, grills, fire rings and restrooms.

    RV Park at Bullfrog Marina

    • Located near Bullfrog Marina, this Lake Powell-operated site features 20 pull-through spaces, full hookups that can accommodate vehicles of up to 50 feet, 30 amp power, restrooms, showers, charcoal grills and tables. Pets are allowed on a leash, according to Lake Powell's official website. Tent campgrounds are also available and campers have access to the marina.

    Village Center at Halls Crossing Marina

    • This Lake Powell-operated facility has 32 pull-through spaces for RVs of up to 60 feet, full hookups, restrooms, grills, tables, heat and A/C hookup for free, restrooms and showers. Pets are allowed on a leash. Tent campgrounds are also available at this site and campers also have access to the marina.
