Hypochondria HIV Symptoms

Hypochondria and HIV are serious ailments and often go hand in hand. HIV is a popular target for hypochondriacs to focus on because the initial symptoms of HIV are generic. Hypochondriacs see these symptoms arise and make a leap that is more often than not incorrect. However, do not associate suspicion of HIV to hypochondria. If you have a fear that you have contracted HIV, and hold plausible evidence to the fact, get checked immediately.

  1. Fever, Headache, Sore Throat

    • Initially, after contracting HIV, you may exhibit no signs or symptoms. However, symptoms will eventually present themselves. Often, they begin with flu-like symptoms, a cause of confusion in many people. Fever, headache and sore throat are common symptoms of an HIV contraction but are also common symptoms of a numerous amount of other diseases. Hypochondriacs who experience these symptoms will often assume the worst possible conclusion.

    Swollen Lymph Glands and Rashes

    • As HIV progresses, more symptoms may occur. Swollen lymph glands and rashes, are widely common symptoms. If seen in conjunction with fevers, headaches and sore throats, it may mean HIV, but it may mean something else. Nothing about these symptoms inherently proves you have HIV.

    Swollen Lymph Nodes

    • Swollen lymph nodes are the first truly plausible cause for alarm in terms of an HIV infection. Swollen lymph nodes are considered the first real sign that HIV may be prevalent. Diarrhea, weight loss, extended fever and coughing are also symptoms at this stage, but are considered more common. Swollen lymph nodes do not automatically mean HIV infection, but they are the point when hypochondria starts to melt into a realistic cause for concern.

    Infections

    • An infection that occurs when your immune system is in a weak state is cause for concern. This is when HIV reaches a point that is considered an official case of AIDS. If you are experiencing a weakening of the immune system and receive an infection, you should consult your doctor immediately. Infections like these are called opportunistic infections and are a serious indication that an HIV infection may be present.

    Final Symptoms

    • Soaking night sweats, shaking chills for several weeks, dry cough, chronic diarrhea, blurred and distorted vision, significant weight loss and persistent fatigue are all symptoms of a final HIV infection stage. These symptoms, in conjunction with the previous symptoms, is a relatively clear indication of HIV. If you hadn't received an HIV check up till these symptoms, you should do so immediately. If you had been tested but were shown not to have HIV, it would be a good idea to be double-checked.
