What Is AmLactin Lotion?

AmLactin lotion is a fragrance-free moisturizer that is used to hydrate, smooth and treat severely dry skin. It is a body lotion that is supposed to be used regularly, usually twice a day. The lotion formula contains alpha hydroxy and is clinically proven. Not only does AmLactin moisturize the skin all over the body, but it also exfoliates dead skin cells, helping to improve the overall state of the skin and restore its natural health.

  1. Function

    • AmLactin lotion's formula consists of 12 percent lactic acid. The lactic acid is neutralized together with ammonium hydroxide to attain a lotion pH that is between 4.5 and 5.5. Lactic acid is a type of alpha hydroxy acid and is an entirely natural humectant.

    Body

    • AmLactin lotion can be applied all over the body. Though most commonly used to soothe and treat dry areas of skin on the face, cuticles, knees, back, hands and legs, it will also treat the dry, rough, chapped skin of the elbows.

    Ingredients

    • The ingredients that make up AmLactin lotion include lactic acid that is neutralized by ammonium hydroxide, water, glyceryl stearate, propylene glycol, mineral oil, PEG 100 stearate, laureth 4, methyl, cetyl alcohol, methylcellulose, magnesium aluminum silicate, glycerin and propylparaben.

    Purchasing Information

    • AmLactin lotion can be purchased at many chain stores throughout the United States, such as CVS drugstore, Costco, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Target, Shnucks, Lucky, Kohl's, Rite Aid, Raley's, Thrifty White Pharmacy, Osco, Minyard Food Stores, Medicap, Bashas, Bartell Drugs, Safeway, Bi-Mart and others. Purchased is available through various online retailers as well, including amazon.com, drugstore.com, medichest.com and hocks.com.

    Keratosis Pilaris

    • AmLactin lotion can help to soothe a condition known as keratosis pilaris. It is a very common skin ailment that results from an accumulation of keratin (a nail and skin protein), which results in red, bumpy skin patches that look like goose bumps. It is generally a harmless condition, but often unsightly. AmLactin lotion can combat it by retaining the skin's moisture and lowering instances of its outbreak. The lotion can also exfoliate the skin and soften the deposits of keratin that are located in the hair follicles, which can improve the overall look of the skin.
