The savvier and smarter we become about what is good for us and what is dangerous, the more we lean toward organic products, because we're more aware that there are harmful substances and chemicals in many of the products that we have routinely used and never gave a second thought to. With our new awareness, we are opting more and more for organic approaches and solutions to health concerns such as hair loss.

    Post-World War II

  1. According to Askdeb.com, the United States was strictly organic before World War II. Subsequent to the war, with all of the innovations that were introduced to supposedly ease and benefit our lives, the outcome has been that the cancer rate has soared. Our environment, and sometimes our bodies, have been steadily damaged, poisoned by toxins, pesticides and chemicals. It's beyond time to step back and reflect and change our ways. Using an organic shampoo not only will help reduce hair loss but it will also benefit your hair's overall health and your body's health. Organic products contain herbs and plants that were not treated with harsh chemicals that can irritate the scalp and may even exacerbate hair loss.
  2. Try This Treatment

  3. Here is one organic treatment from organicpassion.info (see Resources) that may prevent and/or halt your hair loss: combine 2 drops of cedarwood essential oil, 1 drop of pure lemon essential oil, 2 drops of rosemary essential oil, 2 tbsp. clear honey and 1 tbsp. almond oil. Mix the ingredients together and apply to your scalp. Soak a towel in some rosemary tea (made out of fresh rosemary) and then wrap the towel around your head. Leave the treatment on for about 30 minutes and then wash your hair with an organic shampoo.
  4. What to Look For

  5. When selecting an organic shampoo that helps prevent hair loss, look for shampoos that contain the following ingredients, according to surviving-hairloss.com: chamomile, which strengthens your hair; rosemary, which combats dandruff and stimulates hair growth; lavender, because it smells good and will cleanse your scalp; jojoba, because it promotes hair growth and reduces blockages in the hair follicles; pomegranate, because it is an antioxidant and will protect your hair; and aloe vera, because it contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and discourages hair loss diseases such as folliculitis.
  6. Burdock Should Be Considered

  7. Burdock is another important herb to consider if you are combating hair loss. Burdock releases ample amounts of protein, which your hair needs because hair is made up of protein, according to samsonssecret.com.
  8. The List Goes On

  9. Other herbs that are believed to combat hair loss include arnica, birch, catmint, horsetail, licorice, marigold, nettles, parsley, southernwood and stinging nettle, according to holisticonline.com. Making a hair masque out of these herbs, rinsing your hair with them or even drinking teas made out of these components can help you organically battle hair loss.
