Buick is an automotive brand of General Motors (GM); their warranty coverage is directly supported by GM. The original factory warranty on a Buick vehicle is unrelated to any extended warranty or service contract, nor does the purchase of these extend the original factory warranty offered by Buick and GM. All Buick factory warranties are fully transferable to future owners of the vehicle, provided they own the vehicle during its warranty period. Buick factory warranties are "either/or" warranties; this means the factory coverage expires when either one of the limits is reached---the warranty term length or the mileage.

From Quick Guide: Auto Warranty Basics

    Bumper to Bumper Coverage

  1. Buick vehicles come from the factory with a 48 month/50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. The bumper to bumper warranty is known as the vehicle's comprehensive warranty; it guarantees all factory-installed equipment to be free from defect or the defect will be repaired, at no cost to the consumer. Maintenance items such as oil changes or alignments are not covered under the warranty, but defects such as electrical or engine problems are. The warranty coverage begins immediately after the vehicle is initially purchased.
  2. Powertrain Coverage

  3. Buick vehicles come with a 60 month or 100,000 mile powertrain warranty in conjunction with the bumper to bumper warranty. The 60-month term begins when the vehicle is initially purchased, not at the expiration of the bumper to bumper warranty. The powertrain warranty covers all major internal engine, transmission and drive axle components.
  4. Roadside Assitance Service

  5. Buick vehicles offer roadside assistance for a term of 60 months or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Buick roadside assistance covers emergency towing, lock-out relief, fuel delivery and flat tire changes. The roadside assistance service is available 24 hours a day/seven days a week.
  6. Corrosion/Rust Protection

  7. Buick vehicles are guaranteed to be free from rust and corrosion for 72 months or 100,000 miles. If the vehicle does have rust or corrosion, Buick warranty will pay for the necessary repairs. All body components are protected during this warranty term.
  8. Warnings

  9. Buick factory warranty does not protect against damage caused by abuse or neglect, damage from accidents or if the problem is caused by harm from aftermarket components. Aftermarket options installed will not be covered by Buick under any of the warranty terms.
