The RushCard is a prepaid card you can use online and in stores that accept Visa debit cards. You can also use it to pay bills and withdraw money from automated teller machines or ATMs. It works like a regular debit and credit card but restricts your spending to the money you load into your account. This may be useful if you want to control your spending or have problems getting approval for a credit card. There's no credit check when you apply, but you will pay fees to get and use the card.

The RushCard is a stand-alone money card that isn't connected to a banking or credit card account and doesn't come with a line of credit. You load money onto the card by cash, check or direct debit and can only spend the money that's on the card. You can also use the card to store tax refunds.

RushCard fees vary, depending on the card and plan you choose. At the date of publication, you pay a one-time card fee of $3.95 or $9.95, depending on your chosen card design. You may also be liable for a fee of $1 (capped at $10 per month) whenever you use the card, or you can pay a monthly fee ($5.95 by direct deposit or $7.95) for a plan that waives regular transaction fees.
