Green tea has long been hailed in the East (particularly in China and Japan) for being helpful with aiding weight loss and weight management. It has been consumed for thousands of years. Following a green tea diet has been known to have benefits from speeding up the metabolism and lowering cholesterol levels to protecting the liver and lowering glucose levels. There are many diverse benefits associated with the green tea diet.

    Metabolism Increase

  1. Green tea is known to increase the metabolism, and as a result, assist in weight loss. Green tea can raise the body's expenditure of energy (which measures the metabolism), and can also help with oxidation of fat. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is a component of green tea that is a polyphenol, which can speed up the metabolism by raising the heat production via a procedure known as thermogenesis, which influences the metabolic rate.
  2. Oral Health

  3. The green tea diet can also encourage good oral health. Green tea can do so by decreasing the formulation of plaque and killing bacteria that results in plaque. It also destroys bacteria that results in halitosis (bad breath).
  4. Cholesterol

  5. Green tea can help to decrease "bad" LDL cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein) and increase "good" HDL cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein). Because this, people who consume a lot of green tea and who eat foods that are high in cholesterol might have the same cholesterol level as those who don't eat as many cholesterol-laden foods (but who do not drink green tea, either).
  6. Blood Clots

  7. Green tea can also help to prevent the formulation of blood clots. Blood clots can often lead to thrombosis, which is a condition in which a blood clot resides within a blood vessel, thus blocking blood flow in the circulatory system. Thrombosis often leads to heart attacks and strokes. Drinking green tea can help to prevent all of these negative health conditions from occurring in the first place.

  9. Drinking high amounts of green tea can also help to reduce a person's chances of developing hypertension (also known as high blood pressure). This is because it represses Angiotension II (which causes blood vessel constriction and increases blood pressure levels).
  10. Blood Sugar Levels

  11. Consuming a lot of green tea can also help to decrease the blood sugar (glucose) levels. Green tea contains two primary antioxidants (polysaccharides and polyphenols) that are very helpful in lowering glucose levels. This can help treat and stop type II diabetes from happening in the first place.
