Nothing can clear out a room faster than a pair of smelly feet. Feet smell because our feet sweat and because we wear shoes. The combination often results in a stench that is hideous. The foot has 3,000 sweat glands per square inch or more sweat glands than on any other part of your body. This combined with an inner shoe temperature that can get as high as 107F equals stink!

    Baking Soda and ...

  1. If you are an unfortunate soul who is plagued by smelly feet, try dusting your feet with baking soda or baby powder before putting on your shoes. Of course, make sure that you aren't allergic to these products. Disabled-world.com, also recommends soaking your feet in a vat filled with strong, black tea every day for 30 minutes for an entire week. There is tannic acid in tea and this will close the pores in your feet, which will keep your feet drier for longer periods of time. It also kills bacteria.
  2. Vinegar, Epsom Salts

  3. Consider soaking your feet in vinegar (one part) and water (two parts) or clean your feet with Epsom salts. Dissolve two tablespoons of the salts in warm water and soak your feet and then scrub. The salts will clean your feet.
  4. Keratoylsis

  5. Dr. Rodney Basler, a dermatologist and assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha advises anyone who has hideously bad smelling feet to look at the soles of their feet. If you see tiny pits on soles that have turned white, Dr. Basler explains that you probably have a condition that is called pitted keratoylsis. Use an acne medicine with 10 percent benzoyl peroxide on the bottom of your feet.
  6. Use an Antiperspirant

  7. Use under-arm antiperspirant on your feet and soles, recommends Stephen Weinberg, D.P.M., a podiatrist who specializes in sports medicine at Columbus Hospital in Chicago. Pick a roll-on antiperspirant that contains aluminum chloride hexahydrate. Use it two times a day. Aerosol sprays aren't nearly as effective as roll-ons are, according to Dr. Weinberg. You can actually buy foot deodorants but they will be more expensive than using an under-arm antiperspirant, which should work as well.
  8. Procedures

  9. If your problem is extreme, there is a form of electrolysis, which is called iontophoresis that can be used to minimize extreme foot sweating and the attendant odor. There is also a surgical procedure to treat hyperhidrosis, which is extreme sweating of the feet. The nerves that control sweating can be cut, which would eliminate this problem, according to Library.thinkquest.org. However, if you undergo this procedure, you may notice that you are sweating more so (considered compensatory sweating) in other areas of your body, such as under your arms.
