Microsoft Excel Training Courses
Excel training courses are offered online at the Microsoft Learning web site for free for Excel versions 2003 and 2007. Other third-party vendors and online entities also offer Excel training courses either free or for minimal fees. Some suppliers offer training DVDs that can be ordered and shipped to your home for the cost of shipping and handling only.

Excel 2003
-
Training courses offered for users of Excel 2003 include security basics, creating workbooks, printing options, entering formulas, creating charts, importing text, exporting internal data and creating and signing macros, as well as many others.
Excel 2007
-
For 2007, Microsoft changed individual icons and pull-down menus into one control or command center, called a "ribbon." They also offer free courses in this latest version online, including those features in Excel 2003 and additional features such as how to use the command center, the new workbook window, budget templates, charting tools and formatting the way to print on one screen (margins, orientation, print area and page breaks) instead of going back and forth between pull-down menu options.

Tutorials
-
The Excel training courses offer, in addition to online audio and visual training, a practice session and testing module to see how well your skills have improved. All training, practice and testing is self-paced, so there is no limit on how many times nor any time limit constraints in which you can take the training courses.
Training Modules
-
Each Excel training course offers goals to be achieved for each training module and lessons, as well as practice sessions, tests and reference cards. Each course averages 30 to 50 minutes. The training modules are general overviews and do not offer specific information about "how to" make the software work for individual purposes.
Tutorials and Partnerships
-
Microsoft partners with third-party vendors to tutor software users on turning data into useful information. Excel allows individuals and businesses to make better decisions. Interactive online classes such as those offered by New Horizons include courses in creating and modifying charts, sorting and filtering data, formatting worksheets, customizing layouts, importing and exporting data, calculating advanced formulas, forecasting for trend analyses and creating PivotTables to summarize performance. These certified courses and tutorials are offered through classrooms, mentoring partnerships, learning live online, self-paced online learning and through on-site training.
