Ways to Fix Straight Hair
Hair comes in many colors and textures---it can be wavy or straight, brown or blonde, short or long. While those with wavy hair may have to deal with problems with frizz, those with straight hair may face a bigger problem---how on earth can straight hair be fixed so that it looks full, cute, clean, and well-kept? Fortunately, there are several ways to fix straight hair that meet these often unspoken hair needs. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Volume Style
-
Straight hair often appears to lack volume when compared to wavy or curly hair. This is because waves and curls literally take up more space than strands of straight hair do. If you want a natural look but want added volume, try this: After washing your hair, apply a root-lifter product. Turn your head upside down and blow your hair dry with a hairdryer until your hair is just barely damp. Then use a round brush to lift up the roots. You can wear your hair down after doing this.
Messy Bun
-
It isn't always convenient to wear your hair down, especially if it's really long. If you want to bring your hair off your face, try a messy bun, which are very popular. All you need to do is pull your hair back, secure with a ponytail holder, and then tease out the ends of your hair. The key with this hairstyle is to look relaxed and as though not a lot of effort was made, so don't spend a lot of time getting a messy bun to look perfect!

Chip and Slice
-
If your hair is shorter, you may want to try what is known as a chip and slice look. This look is best for someone whose hair is only a few inches long. It resembles a pixie cut but is more punk in style. Once you have the haircut for this style, simply add a little styling mousse to keep the short hair under control. You also can apply wax to the tips.
Face Framing
-
If your hair is medium in length, one of the most popular hairstyles to try is a shoulder-length cut with face framing layers. This style adapts well if you end up wanting to pull your hair back or up, since you still have enough length to work with and can curl any shorter lengths of hair around your face. This style has been worn by celebrity Jennifer Aniston for years, so virtually every hair stylist knows what it looks like.
Pigtails/Braids
-
A very low-maintenance style for straight hair is low pigtails or braids. Their benefit is that they contain the hair with minimal styling effort. You can wear them in a little more formal fashion (e.g., a complex French braid) if you want to go out looking dressy, or you can whip together a traditional braid for trips to the gym or just hanging out.
