Aeroflot Rules
With service to 97 destinations in 48 countries, Aeroflot is Russia's national airline. According to its website, it flies over 9 million passengers per year. If you happen to be one of them, make sure you are aware of Aeroflot's latest rules and regulations to ensure a smoother trip.
-
Luggage
-
One piece of carry-on luggage is permitted on any Aeroflot flight and must be shown for inspection along with your checked luggage before going through security. Free luggage allowance varies depending on class and destination.
Gels and Liquids
-
Gels and liquids up to 100 ml may be placed in carry-on luggage provided that it's sealed in a plastic bag. This applies to flights to and from Russia, the EU and other parts of Europe, as well as the US and Canada.
Pregnancy and Children
-
Pregnant women may travel up to a month before their due date with a doctor's note. Children between 5 and 16 years old may travel alone as long as they are accompanied at the airport and will be picked up at the destination. For citizens of Russia flying abroad, a document notarized by the consulate must be presented granting permission for the trip.
Pets
-
Small pets such as cats, dogs and birds are allowed on Aeroflot flights, either in the cabin or as checked luggage. All animals must be kept in a waterproof kennel. Birds must be kept in a fabric-covered cage. Note that if you choose to check in your small pet, the kennel will not count towards your free baggage allowance and an additional fee will be assessed.
You will need to provide health documentation for your pet on arrival, depending on your destination. When taking an animal outside of Russia, obtain a veterinary passport, a medical certificate detailing the animal's innoculation, and a certificate from a Moscow breeding club confirming that the animal has no monetary value.
In Flight
-
Passengers may not endanger the lives of other passengers and crew, consume outside alcohol or smoke during the flight. Tampering with safety devices, vandalizing the aircraft, and operating electronic devices during take off and landing are also expressly prohibited. Doing so can result in imprisonment, hefty fines and visa cancellation. Aeroflot's website also warns that the incident will be as widely publicized as possible.
