- Each team must have a minimum of and not more than five players on the court during playtime. A team's roster will consist of no more than 15 basketball players, including starters and backup team members. Player positions include the point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center. Each team provides their game time roster to the official scorer before the start of the game.
- Team uniforms are to be comfortable and must include shoes, socks, shorts and a jersey or shirt. Each team member, whether they are playing in the game or observing the game from the bench, is to have a reversible jersey with two different colors. Instead of using a multicolored jersey, teams may also have two jerseys. When a team plays at home, they wear the light colored jersey. The dark colored jersey is used when a team plays away. Permanent numbers must be affixed to the front and back of each jersey. Numbers on the front of each jersey must be a minimum of 4 inches tall and at least ¾ inch wide. For the back of the jersey, numbers are to be a minimum of 6 inches tall and at least ¾ inch wide. The numbers are to be in plain Arabic numerals and must be identical in style and color on the front and back of each jersey.
- Each junior basketball game for girls and boys consists of 4 quarters. The time length for quarters is set according to the maximum allowed member ages on teams. Teams with a maximum member age of 11 years old and younger play for 6-minute quarters. Teams with a maximum member age of 12 years old play for 7-minute quarters, and teams with a maximum member age of 13 years old or older play 8-minute quarters. Half-time occurs after the end of the second quarter of each game and is 10 minutes long. Pregame warm-ups are set for a range of 5 to 10 minutes for each junior team.
- In the event that a junior basketball game extends beyond the standard regulation period, overtime period lengths shall be set at 3 minutes for teams with maximum member ages of 11 years and younger. Overtime period length shall be set at 3 1/2 minutes for teams with a maximum member age of 12 years old. Teams with maximum basketball player ages of 13 to 17 years shall play 4 minutes of overtime.
- Each game is to be officiated by at least three qualified referees, a scorer and a timer. Each junior basketball team can have one division-certified head coach and up to four assistant coaches. Referees must have full working knowledge of officiating hand signals like three pointer, second time out, second violation, direction of play, holding and traveling. Head and assistant coaches are to wear long pants, a shirt and athletic shoes. Head coaches are responsible for supervising and providing guidance around their team's activities prior to, during and after the game.
- Junior basketball teams across genders and all age groups will play on a court with a 10-foot basket. If one team falls behind in the game score by 30 points or more, the game clock is to continue to run except during timeouts, technical fouls, injuries or emergencies.
