Rubber Stamp Effects
Rubber stamps are one of the most versatile crafting tools available today. With one rubber stamp you can create embossing effects, scrapbooking backgrounds and custom candles. With that same rubber stamp and a stylus, you can create a raised-design effect on metal or make polymer clay jewelry.

Embossing
-
Embossing rubber stamp designs gives a raised effect to any craft project. The process is simple: Ink the stamp and press it onto the paper or card stock, sprinkle embossing powder over the wet ink, and apply heat with a heat gun until the embossing powder begins to melt, creating the raised image of your stamp design. This embossing effect is perfect for borders and lettering around personalized cards.
Background
-
A rubber stamp background effect is used to create a frame for photos and a layered effect for scrapbooking pages. Select one ink color or a variety of colors to make a background for any type of paper project. Make a background by repeatedly pressing the stamp around a photo to create a stamped frame or fill up a blank page with stamped designs. Layer your photos, stickers and other memorabilia on top of the stamped background.

Candles
-
Another type of rubber stamp effect is used to create stamped designs on candles. This process begins with inking the stamp and pressing it onto tissue paper. Cut the tissue around the stamped design and press it onto the candle. Wrap wax paper tightly around the candle and the tissue. Heat the stamped image with an embossing gun until the ink melts into the candle for a custom design.
Metal
-
Rubber stamping thin metal foil or sheeting creates an embossed effect that raises the metal around the design of the stamp. Ink the stamp and press it into a pre-cut section of metal. Use a stylus to trace along the pattern of the stamped design, creating a raised effect on one side of the metal and an indented effect on the other. Colors may be added to the finished design with ink pens and then set with a heat gun.
Clay
-
A myriad of objects may be made combining rubber stamps and polymer clay. The soft clay accepts the details of rubber stamps beautifully and bakes up hard for jewelry, magnets, key chains or cards. The outline of the stamped clay may be trimmed and cut before it bakes to create individual objects, or leave it as part of a larger piece for cards, book covers and pictures. Paint and polish the baked clay to bring life to the stamped design.
