Advantages of Satellite Internet
Satellite Internet is a type of service where an Internet signal is beamed directly from a satellite straight down into your home. This is different from regular Internet access, where the signal is sent from a source through miles of phone or cable television lines to your computer. A technician simply installs a satellite receiver dish that receives the Internet signal from a satellite. The signal is then passed through cables into your home and into your computer. Satellite Internet access offers a number of advantages.
-
Connecting
-
One definite advantage of satellite Internet is that your computer is always connected. After your service has been installed, every time you boot up your computer you are connected to the Internet. You do not have to log in or do or anything of that nature. You simply turn on your computer and you're automatically connected. This is not affected by changing users within Windows or rebooting your computer.
Availability
-
Satellite Internet also has a much higher availability rate than cable or DSL. Satellite Internet can be received anywhere in the United States, no matter the terrain. Mountainous and other remote regions are unable to receive cable and DSL Internet because it can be impossible to run the cables to people's homes due to the difficult landscape. Satellite Internet is also available for ships at sea, where any other kind of Internet access is not possible.
-
Multiple Users
-
A definite advantage of satellite Internet over dial-up Internet is the ability to have multiple users simultaneously share an Internet connection. With dial-up Internet, one computer can use the Internet, sign off and allow another to use the connection. An unlimited number of devices can all use a satellite Internet signal.
Ease of Use
-
The setup process for satellite Internet is not at all difficult. Once a technician sets up your account and installs a signal receiver dish on the exterior of your house, your computer connects to the Internet much the same way as it always did. Other than the dish, no extra equipment is necessary.
Service Outages
-
Another advantage of satellite internet is that it is in no way affected by your phone or cable television service. There can be periods of time where your phone or cable may go out due to some unforeseen circumstance like a downed wire, but if that happens you would not also lose your internet connection.
