- Christopher Columbus supposedly landed with his crew on Cockburn Town in 1942. Of course, other historians believe it was Ponce De Leon who was the first to European to discover these islands. It wasn't until the 1600s that Bermudans settled on Grand Turk.
- The center of the island is Cockburn Town; which is laden with historic sites. The size of the island measures just over seven miles. There are approximately three thousand and seven hundred people that live on the island.
- An Easterly breeze allows the summers to stay in the low nineties and the winters to be in the upper seventies. The annual rainfall is around twenty-one inches. The water stays just as warm as the air in Grand Turk, making this truly a vacation haven.
- Off the coast of Grand Turk is some of the world's most amazing wall diving off coral cliffs. These cliffs drop off range from thirty feet to over seven thousand feet. Diving is one of the main attractions of Grand Turk. Don't forget to check out the natural attractions in Grand Turk such as Gibby Cay and the Turks & Caicos National Museum.
- Because Grand Turk is a very touristy island, the main focus is on water sports. Although the language spoken is universally English, the population on Grand Turk is a worldwide mix of cultures including international influences from British, American, French, Canadian, Haitians, Dominicans and Scandinavians. With this wide mix of cultures, Grand Turk definitely has an international flare.
