Acne can effect people of all ages, and can have many different causes. Certain types of acne can be difficult to treat with over-the-counter products, including hormonal acne. Luckily, changing the diet can improve and even eliminate treat-resistant acne in many people.   1. Vitamin C

    • Vitamin C helps the body repair damaged cells and can increase cell turnover, preventing dead skin from clogging the skin's pores. Increase your intake of vitamin C by eating citrus fruits or by taking a vitamin C supplement.

    Vitamin A

    • Vitamin A reduces inflammation and helps the skin produce new cells. Reducing inflammation can prevent the skin's pores from becoming clogged by the oils on the surface of the skin. Vitamin A can be found in carrots and spinach.

    B Vitamins

The B vitamins can be found in meats, eggs, and dairy products, and can help support blood circulation in the skin. This can improve oil gland regulation and can help regulate oil production in the skin.

    Vitamin K

    • Vitamin K can be found in dark greens, such as spinach, kale, and swiss chard. Vital for the proper functioning of the blood, vitamin K can help relieve inflammation and redness in the skin. By reducing inflammation, the healing time for active acne lesions will shorten.

    Vitamin E

    • Vitamin E fights off free radicals that can attack the skin, and can improve skin gland functioning. Foods that contain high levels of vitamin E include almonds and olives.
