About Adobe Image Ready
Adobe ImageReady is a graphics editing program that helps prepare graphics for use on the Internet. First, a user creates graphics with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator and then he can use Adobe ImageReady to prepare the graphics for online use by compression, animation or optimization. Adobe ImageReady has been discontinued since Photoshop CS3 was released. Photoshop CS3 has most of the features of ImageReady and Adobe plans to include most of these features in all future versions of Photoshop.

The most popular features in Adobe ImageReady are the slice and select tools, image mapping tools, slice palette and options, palette optimization, importing a folder as frames, exporting layers as individual files, exporting a file as a Macromedia Flash file and the ability edit GIF animations.
Windows Requirements

You must have Windows 95 or later in order to install Adobe ImageReady. The other requirements are that you have a Pentium or faster processor, at least 16 MB of RAM, although at least 32 MB are recommended, 20 MB of hard disk space available, 256 color display adapter and a CD-ROM and sound card for watching the tutorial files.

Macintosh Requirements

To install Adobe ImageReady on a Macintosh, you must have at least a G3 PowerPC processor or higher, Apple System 7.5.5 or later operating system, at least 20 MB of free hard disk space, 16 MB of application RAM, a CD-ROM drive and a color monitor with at least a 256 color video card or greater.
Release

Adobe ImageReady 1.0 was released in July 1998 as an extra program bundled with Photoshop 2.0. Adobe ImageReady has been bundled with Photoshop up until Photoshop CS3 was released. Since Photoshop CS3 contained most of the features as Adobe ImageReady, Adobe ImageReady was then discontinued.

Adobe ImageReady cannot be purchased separately from Adobe Photoshop. In order to get Adobe ImageReady, you must purchase a copy of Adobe Photoshop CS2 or earlier and ImageReady will come with it. You can purchase Adobe Photoshop CS2 or earlier at some electronic stores and various software websites online.
