What is Oregano Oil Good for?

Oregano oil has been used for centuries for its herbal healing remedies. Originally used in cooking, the oil is now available as a supplement in pill or liquid form to obtain the variety of medical benefits it possesses. Although widely popular and used throughout the world as an alternative medicine, the Food and Drug Administration doesn't recognize oregano oil as a mainstream medicine.

  1. Muscle Repair

    • Oregano oil can help repair damaged muscles in conjunction with existing proteins. It also helps to repair any damage to tendons and connective tissues. The muscles experience greater flexibility when oil use is continued.

    Sinus Help

    • When added to water, oregano oil is widely regarded as a cure for sinus problems and infections. It acts to dampen the effects of allergens that lead to sinus pressure and other complications. As a result, allergies are also treated by intake of the oil.

    Skin Renewal

    • Oregano oil helps to destroy the harmful microorganisms that plague the skin. By ridding the body of these toxins, the skin is able to continue its daily renewal and revitalization. The collagen under the skin is then able to keep skin tight and looking younger.

    Immune Booster

    • Oregano oil helps keep the body's natural defense system up and running. It helps to sustain the immune system and prohibit free radicals from clinging to cells and causing sickness and disease. Toxins are then unable to bring about the onset of certain types of cancer by aiding in the immunity process.

    Topical Use

    • In liquid form, a small amount of oregano oil can be used to treat a variety of skin irritations such as a rash or bug bite. Simply rubbed onto the affected area, the oil acts to coat the infection and reduce itching and pain. The psychical symptoms of the irritations are then diminished, leaving the skin again unblemished.

    Stomach Ease

    • The nutrients found in oregano oil can help to calm upset and uneasy stomachs. The oil acts as a neutralizer with the stomach acid, resulting in a leveling off and reduction in pain-causing symptoms. This may help to further reduce the onset of certain illnesses such as acid reflux disease, which is due to a buildup of stomach acid into the esophagus.

    Respiratory Health

    • Oregano oil boosts the lungs and respiratory system. It works to clear air passageways and reduce inflammation brought on by asthma and asthma-related symptoms. Oxygen is able to pass through the body easier, and carbon dioxide is eliminated more readily.
