Ladies resort casual wear for the daytime is classic casual. Avoid jeans and denim material, which is likely to be restricted by dress code policy if resort casual is required. If jeans are white or colored an exception is possible, but not a safe bet. As a policy, if you have doubts about a selection of apparel, you should probably not wear it. A T-shirt worn alone is most often not appropriate; if you must incorporate a T-shirt into an outfit it should be plain or patterned in a classy way. Stick to blouses or collared shirts. Brand images or slogans are not approved for resort casual dress. The general tone of an outfit should be chic and sophisticated.

Ladies evening resort casual wear should be fashionable and elegant. Denim material and jeans are absolutely prohibited, as are T-shirts. Blouses, collared shirts and tops are appropriate, as are jackets. A classy summer dress, skirt or slacks is recommended in coordinating colors or patterns. Footwear should be slightly less casual than a daytime choice and, though formal is not required, a dressier shoe can make a resort casual outfit look glamorous. Add a full set of jewelry and accessories, like scarves, to complete the look.

A gentleman's resort casual look for day tends to consist of a classic polo shirt or other collared top. Jackets, with the exception of denim, are appropriate for layering, as are knits and pullovers, as long as they are classy and presentable. A non-denim bottom, such as khakis, linen pants or chinos are approved bottoms. Men's flat shoes are the best footwear, worn with matching socks to correspond with footwear, which is brown or black. Boat shoes and loafers are a classic choice; finish off the outfit by adding a watch.

For evening, men's resort casual dress is often a day outfit transitioned. Adding a jacket to the look and changing from shorts to slacks can easily accomplish the outfit. Hats are not to be worn, but men's jewelry such as watches are an acceptable addition. Keep the look simple and classic, with no denim or T-shirts. White socks should never be worn in evening wear, and black socks work well with a gentleman's loafer or other dress casual shoe.

The look should be smart and refined. Do not overdo the accessories or blend different patterns and/or many different colors. Everything worn should be clean and in good condition. This means that favorite flip flops or well-worn tennis shoes may not be the best choice, though they may be the easiest.
