These side effects are not usually considered to be cause for alarm, as they tend to go away on their own as the body and the eyes get used to the drops. These side effects include headache, feeling like there is something within the eyes, dry eyes, cough, blurry vision, backache, changes in taste, upset stomach, stomachache, sore throat, nausea, more tears being produced and minor itching, burning and stinging of the eyes.

These potentially harmful side effects are pain, discharge, swelling or irritation of the eyes, chest discomfort or ache, dark-colored urine, disorientation, confusion, yellowing of the eyes or of the skin, abnormal or slow heartbeat, peeling, blistering, swollen or red skin, scaling, swelling, redness, drooping or pain of the eyelids, tingling, numbness or weakness of the legs or the arms, swelling of the feet, ankles or hands, abnormal weakness or exhaustion and chills.
