Home Remedies for Gas Pain

No one is immune to flatulence. As a part of the body's daily functions, passing gas is common and necessary. However, gas pain does not have to be a part of an individual's lifestyle. When gas pain occurs, there are many alternatives to be considered that can usually be found in the kitchen. Several fruits, vegetables, teas, seeds and herbs can help alleviate gas pain without having to rely on over-the-counter products.

  1. Herbal Teas

    • Herbal teas not only help gas pain, but also help with belching and bloating as well. Good examples are ginger and chamomile tea. Ginger tea will relieve bloating while chamomile tea alleviates body pain.

    Apple Cider Vinegar

    • A small amount of apple cider vinegar is an easy and reliable home remedy for gas pain. Only a few tablespoons are needed, and should be mixed into 1 cup of water.

    Baking Soda and Cola

    • Gas pains can be alleviated through induced belching and flatulence. The process can be quickened by mixing a small amount of baking soda in cola and then ingesting it after it has been stirred.

    Celery

    • Celery will diminish gas pain and help keep it away. The key is to use only a small amount without swallowing. Munching on 1 tsp. of celery then spitting it out should do the trick.

    Bay Leaves

    • Bay leaves can provide prompt relief to gas pain. Using a 1/2 tsp. of bay leaves, boil water and then drop the leaves into the boiling water. The remedy must be seeped and strained before drinking. For the best effect, drink slowly.

    Tangerine Peels

    • Tangerine peels have dated back to the sixth century B.C. as a natural home remedy for belching, bloating and gas pain. Peel a tangerine and boil the peels for around five minutes. After straining, the liquid should be ingested like tea. The peels can also be consumed if desired, as a digestive aid.

    Seeds

    • Several seeds have been known to soothe away gassy aches and pains. Caraway, fennel and dill seeds can provide immediate relief. A teaspoon of any of the seeds should be crushed and then added to a cup of boiling water. After being steeped and strained, consume the drink.
