Is Mineral Water Good for Candida?

Candida is a type of yeast that can live in the gastrointestinal system of the body. If there is an overgrowth, then the infestation can cause digestive problems, body aches, headaches and a general feeling of malaise. Mineral water has the potential to treat candida overgrowth when used with other foods as part of a special diet targeting the removal of the yeast.

  1. Preparation

    • Getting rid of candida requires a total overhaul of your diet. The main thing is to eliminate sugar and processed foods from your diet because these are what promote the growth of yeast. You should avoid drinking fruit juice because it contains a lot of sugar. You should drink mineral water instead. You should also refrain from coffee and tea. You can drink herbal tea, but try to keep it to a minimum. The mineral water will help to flush the toxins from the body.

    Foods to Eat

    • You want to stock up on proteins, such as fish, chicken and steamed/roasted/grilled meat. Avocados are another good source of protein, especially because they contain omega-3 fatty acid, which are a healthy type of fat. Fresh or frozen vegetables are good, too, because they absorb fungi. Brown rice, soy or rice milk, onions, garlic and tomatoes are also part of a candida diet. You can eat yogurt, but make sure it has no sugar in it.

    Foods to Avoid

    • You should stay away from foods that contain sugar, yeast or fungus and foods that are high in carbohydrates and processed grains. For instance, you should avoid eating bread, pasta, cheese, alcohol, honey, vinegar, peanuts, pistachios, mushrooms and fruit. Normally, fruit is a healthy part of a balanced diet, but if you have candida overgrowth, you should minimize your intake of fruit because it has a lot of naturally occurring sugar and it could contain mold.

    Meal Ideas

    • For breakfast, you can have eggs, fresh vegetable juice and/or yogurt with no sugar. For lunch, you can have chicken, meat or fish with vegetables and brown rice. For dinner, you can also have protein as the main dish, with vegetables on the side. It's best to eat the vegetables raw or only slightly cooked in order to maintain the healthy enzymes in them.

    Warning

    • When you start a candida diet, you could experience general achiness, headaches and an energy lull, as if you had the flu. This is a normal part of the cleansing process. The change in your diet causes changes inside your body that will begin to starve and kill off the yeast. When the yeast die, they release toxins, which can cause an initial feeling of malaise within the first month or so. Gradually, you should notice an increase in energy and well-being as well as weight loss if you stick with the diet.
