Natural Ways to Cleanse the Body
Cleansing the body is essential to good health. Daily exposure to pollutants, tobacco, alcohol and foods high in refined sugars, fats and salt weigh your body down with toxic build up and prevent it from functioning at its best. When your organs stop working properly, illnesses will follow. There are many ways to cleanse your body and to keep it clean.
-
Fasting
-
Fasting is a common form of cleansing. Drinking 12 glasses of water per day will help flush your system and tame hunger pangs. To cleanse the organs and colon add one tablespoon of honey, three tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, the juice of half a lemon and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper to your morning glass of water. Drink two more glasses of this recipe during the day. Adding lemon juice to your water alone will help cleanse your organs, particularly the liver.
A fast can last anywhere between three to 10 days. And when it's over, food should be reintroduced carefully, starting with fruits and vegetables for the first couple of days.
Fiber
-
Cleanse your bowels with psyllium husk. You must drink large amounts of water when using this fibrous herb to avoid bloating and constipation. Psyllium bulks in the colon like a gel and, with the right intake of water, flushes the waste from your bowels.

Diet
-
Fruit and vegetables are high in water and fiber and cleanse the body. Eating more fruits and vegetables than any other food will support your body's natural ability to cleanse. Drinking eight to 12 cups of water daily will also help keep your body, blood and organs clear.
Cleanser
-
Including a natural cleanser in the diet is a good idea. Apple cider vinegar is a popular healer and cleanser. There is a water soluble fiber in apple cider vinegar known as pectin. Pectin absorbs fats, toxins and cholesterol, and flushes them from your body. Pectin also helps with digestion and glucose metabolism, as well as lowers blood pressure and nurtures a healthy colon.
Herbs
-
Herbs such as dandelion root, burdock root, licorice root and goldenseal are powerful cleansers for the blood, liver, kidneys and skin. Parsley leaf cleanses the kidneys and may also be helpful in treating kidney stones. Echinacea is a lymph cleanser and garlic is a natural antibiotic. These herbs can be consumed as food, or they can be taken as supplements. Making a tea is an effective way of using cleansing herbs. Drop the roots and leaves in a pot of boiled water and let steep for five minutes. Strain and drink at least three cups a day.
