Bee pollen contains essentially all of the nutrients required by the human body. Made up primarily of protein and amino acids, bee pollen enhances proper muscle development and organ repair. Although bee pollen has very beneficial side effects, it has harmful side effects as well.

  1. Lowers Cholesterol

    • Regular intake of bee pollen helps to manage cholesterol within the blood. While it lowers the bad cholesterol know as LDL, it raises the good cholesterol HDL. It also lowers the amount of triglycerides in the body.

    Cancer Prevention

    • Bee pollen ingestion has been linked to preventing certain types of cancer. By aiding in the protection of the cells, the pollen acts as a barrier, blocking out free radicals and toxins from latching on and forming tumors.

    Blood Cell Development

    • Bee pollen helps promote the growth of white and red blood cells. This leads to the formation of hemoglobin, which is used to carry oxygen throughout the body. This is especially important for those who are anemic.

    Nausea

    • Bee pollen may cause nausea that can range from stomach uneasiness that dissipates after a few hours to severe, longer-lasting nausea.

    Allergic Skin Reactions

    • Some people may develop an allergic reaction to bee pollen. The symptoms may show up some time after ingestion and can include rash, fever and hives. Consult a doctor if any of these reactions occur.

    Asthma Reactions

    • The chemicals in bee pollen may have adverse effects on those who suffer from asthma. The pollen may trigger an attack that could result even in death. Asthma sufferers should consult a doctor before ingesting bee pollen.

    Bee Sting Allergies

    • Because bee pollen is derived from bees, those with a bee sting allergy will most likely be allergic to the pollen.
