Prevacid Solutabs are a prescription medication used to treat stomach and intestinal ulcers that are caused by acid reflux and gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. It works by decreasing how much acid the stomach produces. Prevacid Solutabs are generally taken once a day, preferably with a glass of water, to heal esophageal damage as well as relieve heartburn and prevent the damage from returning.

  1. Stomach Pain

    • If you develop severe stomach pain while taking Prevacid Solutabs, you should contact your doctor immediately. This could indicate that a potentially serious complication has developed that requires medical attention.

    Vitamin B-12 Deficiency

    • When used over a long period of time, Prevacid can cause a Vitamin B-12 deficiency in rare cases. This condition typically develops in people who have been taking the drug for three or more years. Symptoms of a B-12 deficiency include numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, a sore tongue and unexplained weakness.

    • Like all medications, an allergic reaction to Prevacid can occur in rare cases. Signs of an allergic reaction include itching and swelling of the face, tongue and throat, difficulty breathing and hives or a skin rash. In the event of an allergic reaction, emergency medical treatment is necessary.
