Homeopathic Treatments for Gout
Gout is a form of arthritis that targets the joints in the body. It is caused from a substance called uric acid. Uric acid develops in the body from a chemical called purines. Under normal circumstances, uric acid gets expelled from the body during urination, but in the case of gout, it ends up pooling at the joint locations. This in turn causes pain, swelling, inflammation and a lack of mobility. Gout is commonly treated with prescription medications, but there is also a way to treat it by taking a homeopathic approach.

Diet
-
Diet has a major influence on gout and inflammation. Foods that are high in purines should be avoided. Some of these include game meats, organs from meats such as livers and kidneys, beans such as lentils and Great Northern beans, and shellfish, mackerel, sardines and anchovies. Anything that is made from the extracts of meats should also be avoided such as gravy.
Teas
-
The kidneys and liver are responsible for purifying the blood and flushing impurities such as uric acid from the body. To boost their strength and keep them functioning properly, various herbal teas can be consumed that can ultimately lead to more uric acid being flushed from the body. Some of these include uva ursi, aloe vera, buchu and rose hips.

Arnica
-
When a person has gout, they often feel discomfort and apprehension about being approached from people. This is the result of being fearful of feeling pain if they are touched. For this reason, a homeopathic remedy called arnica can be used. It not only helps ease the nerves, but it also helps to reduce inflammation and pain.
Calcarea
-
One of the main symptoms of gout is the joints balloon up and become very painful. In areas such as the toes, fingers and knees, this can be very prominent to the naked eye. This often comes accompanied with sharp, stabbing pain and a crackling or popping sensation when the joints are moving. A treatment to help combat this unwanted occurrence is a homeopathic remedy called calcarea fluorica.
Sulphur
-
Another symptom that occurs in joints that have gout is a burning sensation accompanied with itchiness. This is especially seen when gout attacks the feet. This sensation can become exacerbated when the weather is hot and humid, and when the air is damp. A homeopathic remedy that is useful in this situation is a substance called sulphur.
